H'okha (Single)

Carlos Elliot

H'okhá - "To sing and beat the drum, providing music in a dancing ritual for healing - Lakota" Some experimental music with native american flavour, dancing Blues, Roots & Rock'nRoll.

Our most recent production "H'okhá", the first single from our fourth album "Gente Espíritu". The full album will be released in summer 2019. "H'okhá" was created about 6 years ago at a time of many changes in our lives. A song that has been evolving and its reappearance seem perfectly timed to accompany this moment of change, and to remind us of the cyclical nature of life and its constant transformation. Composed in Spanish, the song includes chants in the native language of the Lakota community and its name refers to an expression that can be interpreted as the practice of the medicine man who plays his drum and sings as a part of their dance ritual activating medicine with the vibration.

"H'okhá" was recorded this year in the United States under the label Right Coast Recording by producer Bobby Gentilo, and with the participation of Dale Wise on drums, Carlos Elliot on vocals and guitar, Bobby Gentilo on guitar and backing vocals and Reed Brown on the PowBow drum and chants.

This new song of 7 minutes comes loaded with force, we hope that it manages to connect and that we will resonate with its vibration.

Raise the Fire America

Carlos Elliot Jr. (Power Blues Duo)

A proud native from the Colombian hills, Carlos Elliot Jr. is a Bluesman inspired by the Mississippi Hill Country Blues & heritage found in African American dance music. Plays guitar & fife as the Mississippi Hill Country Blues Pioneer in South America.

Blues music comes from gospels & spirituals, it’s the crying from the soul to The Good Lord for pain relief, that spiritual connection is what makes it so pure and deep, but in deed the power in the rhythm on drums and fire on fifes and guitars are also pure joy and courage. We’ve being inspired by the roots, from the north Mississippi Hill Country Blues & the Drums & Fife to the Afro & Latino American & Colombian music.

Communities all over the world respect fire as healing, purifying, transforming and worshipping element.  Fire is power, purity, desire, action & revolution.  All of the Americas, north and south, are one people, sharing the same roots. It doesn’t matter how we arrived here; Black, white and native, we’re all Americans and we’re blessed to call this mystical land, home! – Abya yala “America”: Land of vital blood, Land where everything blooms, poles north to south, the hemispheres’ unity.

As Americans we naturally know the meaning of being children of Mother Earth, and we must know our duty here. We’re messengers of universal love, Ikwashendwna, we must wake up, fight against exploitation, abuse and contamination; light our fire, our ancient fire, our inner fire: RAISE THE FIRE AMERICA!

This album was recorded uncut in one take, no editions, no tricks, it is what it is - Power Blues Duo. The music of the new generation with all the legacy of the Mississippi Blues and some Afro & Latino traditional music.

Mystic Juke-Joint Blues

Carlos Elliot Jr. & the Cornlickers

If you ever had a Mississippi Hill Country Blues Party on your mind, you may close your eyes and let this “Mystic Juke-Joint Blues” gets you to a Rural Juke-Joint Room to dance it all through!

Carlos Elliot Jr. has been playing music around in his country since he’s been 13 years old but it was just when he started to play in Delta Juke Joints and Backyard House Blues parties in Mississippi when he got this beat style, hypnotically rhythmic.

After a couple of times travelling in quest for Blues roots, it led him all the way up to North Mississippi where he fell under the spell of local Blues playing with Blues legends with whom he learnt and lived in their own culture, permeating their musical expression and primitive Hill Country Blues tradition.

“The Cornlickers”, are the house band at Red's Lounge - the most historic and famous Juke Joint Blues club in the world - located in Clarksdale, Mississippi and the last band of the legendary bluesman Big Jack Johnson (One of the Jelly Roll Kings back in the 60’s). They have been playing with other local Blues legends too like Cadillac John Nolden, Big T Williams & Terry Harmonica Bean.

This record was made at “Right coast Recording Studio” State-of-the-art vintage recording. Producer was Bobby Gentilo (From The Cornlickers), with the presence of Dave Natale (Rolling Stones sound engineer for 25 years now) and Dave Wilkerson (YES sound engineer for 23 years now). It was made in the old vintage way, on magnetic tape and analog process, there wasn’t even a single digital process made except for the final analog to digital conversion. It has this Mystic Juke Joint Blues Party Sound, It ain’t commercial at all, so probably you will like it!
